Kagurazaka is located near Edo Castle, established by the Tokugawa shogunate, and boasts a history of over 400 years.

 

Kagurazaka is a hidden gem in Japan, encompassing various elements such as samurai residences, temple towns, entertainment districts, and shopping streets.

Ukiyo-e Making Experience

Ukiyo-e Making Experience at Takahashi Kobo (Studio), Japan's oldest and most prestigious ukiyo-e studio. Their history is over 160 years.

 

In the past, ukiyo-e artisans even demonstrated their skills to the Emperor.

Authentic Monk Experience

Zen Meditation

Zen Meditation at Denchuji Temple was established in 1628. It is a temple with a deep connection to the Soto school's head temple, Eiheiji, in Fukui Prefecture.

The monks provide direct instruction in English. Chair zazen is available. It is a private Zazen experience suitable for families and Beginners.

Kumihimo Making Experience

Kumihimo making experience at Domyo, a historic studio established in 1652. Skilled artisans provide Kumihimo making instruction in English.

Participants experience can enjoy guided tours of the Kumihimo museum and observe live demonstrations of the Kumihimo making process.

Authentic Samurai Experience

Samurai Sword Training

Mugairyu is a historic swordsmanship school established in 1693. A Synthesis of Swordsmanship and Iai Mugairyu Iaido is a combination of Mugairyu swordsmanship and Jikyoryu Iai. 

Their instruction is in English. This training is private small-group Iaido sessions.

Dyeing Experience

'Some no sato Ochiai' is a long-established studio founded in 1920. They held an 'Edo Sarasa and Komon Exhibition' at the Japanese Embassy in London in 2003.

Skilled artisans provide dyeing instruction in English. Enjoy an authentic 'Edo Sarasa' dyeing experience alongside real artisans.

Our geisha tours range from casual to authentic experiences. These tours are divided into three tours: 1) Geisha at Bar, 2) Geisha at Restaurant, and 3) Geisha at Luxury Ryotei.

The Kagurazaka geisha district was established in the late Edo period. Its origin dates back to 1788. You will surely be amazed by their art and eloquence.

Wood joinery, a traditional Japanese method, is said to have been used since the Asuka period (592–710).

Most of the wood joinery can be physically touched, assembled, and disassembled at the " Kigumi Museum." Handling the joinery firsthand will surprise you with its complexity and precision.
