Early Interest List — Kagurazaka Setsubun Obake Geisha Experience

Kagurazaka is famous for the Bakeneko Festival, but there is another seasonal tradition around February 3 when the geisha themselves dress up in unusual costumes.

It is called Setsubun Obake.

Guests are also welcome to join in costume, creating a rare opportunity to experience one of Kagurazaka’s most playful seasonal traditions from inside a traditional ryotei.

 

Because Setsubun Obake takes place only once a year, this experience could only be offered around February 3. If we decide to offer it, the number of places will also be limited by the capacity of the ryotei.

We are currently exploring the possibility of creating a special EDO KAGURA Setsubun Obake experience and would love to know which format interests you most.

Private Experience — 2 to 8 Guests

A private ryotei experience designed for guests who want deeper interaction with the geisha.

 

The evening would focus on conversation, ozashiki games, cultural explanation, and the opportunity to spend time with the geisha at close range in an intimate setting.

Grand Celebration — Around 30 Guests

 

A larger and more festive evening bringing together geisha, traditional daikagura entertainment such as lion dancing and acrobatics, and the shared atmosphere of Kagurazaka’s Setsubun celebrations.

This format would offer a more lively and spectacular way to experience the seasonal traditions of Kagurazaka together with a larger group.

 

Guests would be welcome to arrive in their own costume for either experience.

We are also considering offering optional professional makeup before the experience for guests who would like to take their transformation a step further.
